Worship & Messages

I'M NEW!

We realize that it can be difficult visiting a church for the first time. Everything is new; the people, the place, the culture, all of it is uncharted territory and at times this can seem overwhelming. So to help you as you take these first steps we have provided the following insights that will hopefully make your experience a good one.

what to expect when you visit us for the first time:

  • to be warmly welcomed!
  • to be in a place where you can relax, be yourself and worship God.
  • to see people enjoying being together, laughing and talking; sharing and caring for one another.
  • to hear messages from the Bible that mean something to your life today.
  • to be invited to join us after worship for Coffee Hour where you can make new friends and learn more about us!
  • BEFORE THE SERVICE

    dress code

We are more concerned with the fact that you have come to church than what you wear to church. A few people dress up, but most people will dress in casual attire, so dress how you feel comfortable and you'll fit right in.

    arriving on campus

The church is located at the corner of Ratzer and Alps Roads, right in the heart of Wayne. From the moment you pull into the parking lot, we want you to feel at home. You can feel free to park in any of the spots in the lot. The main entrance is through the main door in the center of the building. Our welcome team is present each morning to help you find anything you need, including a place for your kids, no matter what age they are. When you enter the lobby you will find people gathered together waiting for the service to begin. If you're inclined, say hello to the folks around you, make your way to the Welcome Table or quietly review our information table and be anonymous if you prefer.

nursery (birth - 4 years old)

The nursery is located down the hall on your right as you enter the lobby of the building and is staffed by adults. Your child's safety is very important to us, on your first visit you will be asked to sign your child in letting us know of any allergies or special needs he/she may have. Before you leave, you will be given a beeper to hold onto while you are in service. Should your child need you for any reason, the nursery staff will use the beeper to contact you.

    sunday school

Sunday school is for children PK4-8th grade. Students attend worship with their parents and then are dismissed from the service to their class. Parents then pick up their children after service.

    DURING THE SERVICE

    worship

This time is set aside for communicating with God from our hearts. We have a blended style of worship where the guitar and drums play together. Traditional hymns and contemporary songs are sung as part of our worship experience. Everyone is welcome to celebrate their love for God in their own unique way – for some, that may mean singing & clapping, and for others it means quietly reflecting on the words. You’re welcome to do whatever makes you feel most comfortable.

    offering

Each week there is a time to worship God through the giving of tithes and offerings. As a guest, please do not feel any pressure to give. This is an act of worship for our regular attenders, allowing them to thank God for all of the great work he is doing in their lives. It also gives Wayne Presbyterian the means to reach more people for Christ in the future.

    the message (sermon)

At every service, you will hear a relevant, straightforward message that is based on Scripture and is designed to be helpful in your everyday life. We trust that these messages will help you develop a growing, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and provide a strong biblical foundation for your life. communion

Once a month, generally on the first Sunday of the month, we celebrate the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper together. Anyone can participate in this time of reflection and prayer – as long they’ve made the decision to follow Jesus Christ. The bread (gluten-free) and juice that we share represent the life He gave up so that our sins could be forgiven. By participating in this meal, we are nurtured in our faith and strengthened in our life together.

    AFTER THE SERVICE

    visit the welcome table

As you leave the service, please stop at our welcome table located right outside the Sanctuary doors. As a guest of our church you will also receive more information about our church and a gift which is our way of saying thanks for stopping by.

    have some coffee

After service everyone is invited to Memorial Hall; a place where we hang out for a while and have some coffee before heading home.
